On January 23, 2025, a lecture entitled “Do You Believe Wikipedia?” was held in Ostrava, aimed at the general public. The lecture, which followed similar lectures in Olomouc and Otrokovice, took place at the Moravian-Silesian Research Library and was attended by nearly 30 visitors. Pavel Bednařík, chief lecturer at Wikimedia Czech Republic, familiarized those present with what they can and cannot find on Wikipedia, the basic rules for contributing, and who is responsible for checking the accuracy and content of Wikipedia. With the support of experienced Wikipedians Tadeáš Bednarz (member of the WMČR board) and Miloš Rucki, he also explained how the Wikipedia community works and what users enjoy about contributing and what annoys them.
