On Monday, January 19, 2026, Wikimedia’s chief lecturer Pavel Bednařík visited the town of Písek, where three educational events took place. In the morning, he spent time with students from the Písek Gymnasium under the guidance of teacher Jakub Cenek. The students listened to a lecture on Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects, then independently researched articles related to the city of Písek and looked for non-existent articles to create. In the afternoon, training was provided by the Institute for Monuments and Culture, o.p.s., which publishes the magazine PROPAMÁTKY and organizes conferences (among other things, they are a partner of the Popiš památku competition). At 5:00 p.m., the rich program culminated with a lecture at the Písek Municipal Library, which focused on the principles of Wikipedia, building trust, and the connection between Wikipedia and large language models. The lecture was followed by questions from the audience, which included both young people and seniors.
