Prague public transport is a topic that is inherently linked to the city, which is why we focused on it as part of one of the edit-a-thons for the Czechoslovakia on Wikipedia competition. The Prague Public Transport in the Czechoslovakia Era edit-a-thon took place in the pleasant premises of the Municipal Library in Prague, which provided us with ideal facilities for our work.
The event had a more intimate and working atmosphere, which allowed for a very individual approach by the lecturer to all attendees. Participants were thus able to get deeply acquainted with the technical aspects of editing. We focused, for example, on how to correctly upload photos to the Wikimedia Commons repository or how to improve articles by adding relevant links. We also managed to expand the ranks of Wikipedians – right on the spot, one of the participants created her wiki account and learned about the functioning of our association and community.
One of the outputs of the event is new photographs documenting Prague transport. Thanks to the edit-a-thon, even less common technical curiosities were successfully uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Worth mentioning, for example, is the photograph of the DPP 4072 shunting locomotive, which is now freely available for use in articles and beyond.
We thank everyone who got involved in editing and helped map another piece of the history and present of our transport.
