Join us in improving the English Wikipedia and enter a contest to win exciting prizes! 1Lib1Ref is a global campaign open to anyone interested in improving the quality of Wikipedia by adding references to individual articles. The campaign is aimed primarily at librarians and information professionals, including library science students.
As part of the ongoing contest, we are hosting an online workshop where we will walk you through everything in practice.
1Lib1Ref Online Workshop
- Date: Monday, 1 June 2026, 10:00–11:30
- Location: online (in person for representatives of the National Library of the Czech Republic)
The webinar consists of two parts: an informational part, providing everything participants need to know to get involved, and a practical part, in which each participant will try adding references to selected articles.
About the 1Lib1Ref Campaign
The contest runs from 15 May to 5 June 2026. Who better than librarians to help maintain the quality of citations on Wikipedia? Librarians are experts in finding and providing information, and work daily with books and journals that are invaluable sources for Wikipedia.
By joining the 1Lib1Ref campaign, you automatically enter a draw for small prizes with a Wikimedia theme and book vouchers. All you need to do is edit Wikipedia as a registered user during the campaign period, add a reference following the instructions, and include the hashtag #1Lib1Ref in your edit summary.
This year you can also compete in the Central European regional contest – the winner can shop at the international Wikistore for $80. Just add a second hashtag: #1Lib1RefCEE.
More information can be found on the 1Lib1Ref Wikipedia page.
