A recording of the webinar Images from the Internet and Copyright, held on 15 June 2026 at 9:00, is now available on the Wikimedia Czech Republic YouTube channel. The webinar was organised by Wikimedia Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech Library Association (SKIP) and the National Library of the Czech Republic.
The webinar covered the basics of copyright law – what does and does not qualify as a protected work, how long protection lasts, and when a work can be used without the author’s permission. Topics included exceptions such as freedom of panorama and library licences, as well as practical questions from library practice: how to handle book covers, spine photographs, or logos. A separate section addressed the current topic of artificial intelligence – Czech case law currently treats AI-generated outputs as works in the public domain, as they lack a human author. The webinar also explained Creative Commons public licences and how to cite them correctly.
