From 15 May to 5 June 2026, the latest round of the global #1Lib1Ref challenge took place. Known in Czech as Přidej citaci, it aims to improve the quality of Wikipedia articles by adding references to individual entries.
#1Lib1Ref runs in countries around the world and is designed to motivate librarians to contribute at least one reference to an existing article, following the example of encyclopaedists. On the Czech Wikipedia, a total of 12 users took part this time, adding references to 285 articles. Every participant also receives a badge for taking part!
Articles that gained new references include, for example, entries on the skipper butterfly Thymelicus sylvestris and the animated character Mr. Egg.
The following participants from this year’s second round were drawn at random to receive a small prize:
