On June 26, 2025, a full-day program took place at the National Library of the Czech Republic in Prague, welcoming students and faculty from the National Tainan Junior College of Nursing (NTJCN) in Taiwan. The initiative came from one of the Taiwanese lecturers, who reached out after reading an article about Jiřina Kádnerová in a French magazine, which followed her interview with DVTV.
The morning part of the program introduced the work of Wikimedia Czech Republic, particularly the Seniors Write Wikipedia program and its connections with libraries, universities of the third age, and other partners. The presentation was led by Klára Joklová and Lucie Schubert.
After a joint lunch with the Wikimedia ČR team, lecturers, and senior editors, the group participated in an afternoon session in the format of a “living library.” Over tea and coffee, guests split into small groups and engaged in discussions with seniors, instructors, and Wikimedians in Residence from the National Library about their Wikipedia experiences.
The Taiwanese students were keen to learn how Czech seniors edit Wikipedia, what motivates them, and how they contribute to free knowledge. Simultaneous interpretation between English and Czech was available to help bridge the language barrier.
The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and became a valuable moment of international exchange in the fields of education and community engagement.
