More than 120 Czech women scientists are waiting for their article on Wikipedia

As part of our cooperation with the Czech Academy of Sciences, a new list of suggested articles about contemporary Czech women scientists has been added to Wikipedia. Participants can now choose from more than 120 personalities who currently do not yet have their own Wikipedia article.

Most of them are recipients of prestigious awards, professors or associate professors whose work has a significant impact on Czech and international science. The list will continue to be updated with additional names and serves as inspiration for creating new articles or expanding existing ones.

This initiative is part of the Women’s Month on Wikipedia 2026 campaign, which highlights the still low representation of women on Wikipedia. The goal is to jointly add articles about notable women from both the present and the past.

Of course, the number of women who could be written about is much larger – it is entirely up to you which one you choose. Articles can be created or expanded in any language edition of Wikipedia. Do you know a notable woman who is missing from Wikipedia or whose article is still very brief? Start editing.

The contest runs from March 1 to April 8, 2026. When you create a new article or expand an existing one, mark your edit summary with the hashtag #WikiGap.

All information about the challenge can be found at zeny.wikimedia.cz.
