Cultural Heritage Online: After Five Years, a Sharp Increase in Digitization, Yet a Unified Platform Is Still Missing

The Open Collections project, which for five years mapped the digitization of cultural heritage in the Czech Republic, is coming to an end. The final report published by the Wikimedia Czech Republic Association shows that the number of digitized artifacts has more than doubled since 2020. Despite this progress, obstacles remain—most notably the lack of methodological support and a unified platform. The association is now seeking an institution that could take over the research. The project was carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
