On Tuesday, 18 March 2025, the main editathon of this year’s Women on Wikipedia campaign took place. It was held as a hybrid event – both in person at SVĚT HUB in Prague and online via Zoom. Participants from the Brno WikiClub joined remotely, and the event was also connected to the local Prague WikiClub and Wikisraz meetup.
After a joint welcome session, participants worked individually or in smaller groups. Several experienced trainers were available throughout the event to support newcomers and help them create or improve Wikipedia articles. A total of 13 people participated, including 2 online attendees.
The atmosphere was welcoming and inspiring – experienced editors met with beginners, all motivated to improve gender balance on Wikipedia. One of the participants, Lenka Holá, a student of the Faculty of Arts at Charles University and an intern at Wikimedia Czech Republic, shared: “I believe women and men are equally capable writers – and Wikipedia does not stand in the way of having 50/50.”
