This year’s first international edition of the Wiki Loves Film 2025 challenge and competition, which runs from 1 July to 31 August 2025, has moved into its second half. Successful visits to the festivals in Karlovy Vary and the Summer Film School in Uherské Hradiště offered a number of opportunities to shoot filmmakers and delegations in particular (see the gallery). More than thirty participants from five Central and Eastern European countries have already been involved in editing activities. This is the first time the competition is taking place in the CEE region, which includes 28 countries. Colleagues from Poland, Slovakia, Northern Macedonia and Romania took on separate activities.
The organisers have prepared several events for August. The first one is the Online CEE editathon, which will take place on Monday, 18 August 2025 from 4PM to 8PM. The programme will include training for newcomers, a knowledge and music quiz or a review of the articles published so far. For more information, visit the international Wiki Loves Film page (on Meta). Register for the edit-a-thon here.
The second event, aimed primarily at Czech participants, is a walking tour of Prague cinemas and a screening of The Brothers Lumiere: The Adventure Continues. The walk starts at 17:00 in front of Klementinum on Mariánské náměstí, the free screening of the film for the participants of the competition will take place at Edison Filmhub at 19:30. Registration is required for both events!
