Young Wikimedians in Action – Yerevan 2025
The recent gathering of young Wikimedians from the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region in Yerevan, Armenia, once again reminded us how much energy, creativity, and drive young volunteers bring into the Wikimedia Movement and the world of free knowledge.
The three-day in-person meeting of the CEE Youth Group brought together 13 participants from 8 countries. The main goal was to strengthen their leadership skills, deepen collaboration within the international group, and co-create an action plan for the upcoming year. The program focused on practical skill development, teamwork, identifying personal strengths, and building confidence to take initiative in local communities.
The group also dedicated time to reviewing the internal functioning of the CEE Youth Group, planning future activities, and strengthening the structures for long-term collaboration among young Wikimedians across the CEE region and Central Asia.
The event was facilitated by Karolína Kousalová and Klára Joklová, and hosted with organizational support from Wikimedia Armenia and the CEE Hub. Our sincere thanks to both organizations and all participants – for their openness, creativity, and dedication!
For us, supporting young people in the Wikimedia Movement is not just another project – it’s a long-term commitment. We believe that with shared space, guidance, and international collaboration, young Wikimedians can play a key role in the future of the entire movement.
