Wikimedia ČR is holding the seventeenth edition of its popular photo workshop this September. The event takes place from 4–6 September 2026 in Trutnov and is open to anyone who photographs, or wants to photograph, for Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
The workshop will be held at Hotel Krakonoš in the centre of Trutnov, right next to the local brewery. We’re expecting 9 to 12 Wikipedians including a lecturer, with accommodation in modern twin rooms and one triple room.
The workshop is open both to experienced contributors who already photograph for Wikipedia and to newcomers who want to give it a try. Newcomers should have already uploaded a few files to Wikimedia Commons; other participants should have been actively photographing for Wikipedia recently.
The programme is largely shaped by the participants themselves – anyone interested can propose their own session. As always, a group photo shoot with Spock won’t be missing.
Registration opens on 10 August at 8 pm on the workshop page on Wikipedia. A deposit of 1000 CZK is required to confirm your spot; part of it will be refunded after the event based on the final cost breakdown.
Participants should bring their own camera and, if relevant, a laptop; in exceptional cases equipment can be borrowed from Wikimedia ČR.
The workshop will take place if at least 7 people register with a binding sign-up. The event is organized by Packa, with Spock Lone Wolf again serving as expert guarantor and Wikimedia ČR’s Community Programs Manager Lucie Schubert as coordinator. It is funded by Wikimedia ČR through its community micro-grants.
More information and the sign-up table will be available on the workshop page on Wikipedia.
