In August a first CEE challenge Wiki Loves Film was finished

On Sunday, August 31, 2025, the first international Wiki Loves Film challenge ended, covering the entire Central European region from Aš to the Black Sea. This year’s first edition of the challenge, which followed on from the previous micro-competition Films on Wikipedia in 2024, was also supported for the first time by the CEE Hub branch, for which we are very grateful.

How did the challenge and competition turn out? The challenge attracted 59 participants from 5 countries, who created 404 new articles in six language versions of Wikipedia. In addition, 1,056 pages were edited (with a total of 1,416 edits). Photographers also got involved – 10 participants uploaded a total of 193 photos.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your participation in the challenge. We greatly appreciate that, despite minor organizational uncertainties, you were willing to write, edit, take photos, and upload photos so that films on Wikipedia would once again be represented in a better and higher quality manner.

In order to properly evaluate the entire challenge and competition, we now need to process the results and distribute the prizes. The results will be published by September 22, 2025, on the Wiki Loves Film page. Winners will be notified personally, and some of the prizes will be presented at the CEE Meeting in Thessaloniki.

As a reward for your participation, we have awarded you a film barnstar and invite you to the online evaluation of the competition, which will take place on Monday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. (CET) on Google Meet.
