This year’s Science Month started a month earlier. Pavel Bednařík, the main lecturer of Wikimedia ČR, took part in the festival he participated in as a student – Academia Film Olomouc. This festival, which popularizes scientific topics through films and interesting guests, celebrated its 60th anniversary this year and ranked as the longest running film festival in the Czech Republic. The program included a lecture on Wikipedia as a data-driven source of knowledge and a Wikipedia is not science workshop, where participants could try out setting up an account, basic editing skills and ask a number of questions. “Our collaboration with the festival has resulted, among other things, in a collaboration for Science Month in the form of the Wikipevnost event, where we will spend a whole day with Wikipedia at the Fortress of Knowledge. The aim is to involve academics and scientists, pupils and students as well as the general public,” says Bednařík.
